🔴 NURSES IN IRELAND 🔴
with experience in Paediatric Department or Neonatal Department
➡️ Who is the Employer
The Employer provides nursing care in the home to children and adults with complex medical needs. These needs include invasive and non-invasive ventilatory support, tracheostomy care, TPN etc. The aim of the service is to support families in preventing a deterioration of health status thus avoiding hospital admission. Without this service, parents and guardians will burn out and maintaining the child at home will become unsustainable.
The majority of their clients are children (ranging from 6 months to 17 years) and over 90% of their services are nurse delivered. They deliver day and night shifts mostly within the family home but also with the child/young person at school or college. The hours of service per client per week vary, but it generally transpires that a nurse is allocated to one or two clients in an area. Their homecare services are not short shifts with several clients.
While homecare may sound daunting to some, they find that their team members who have joined them from overseas really enjoy this type of work. They care for one client at a time. Each client has an evidence based care plan developed by the Nurse Manager in partnership with the family and the clients primary physician. Each home has medical equipment and supplies provided by the HSE. They undertake a risk assessment in each home prior to commencing a service and risks and hazards are dealt with before a shift. A new nurse receives training specific to each client and shadow shifts are completed with an experienced nurse to build competence and confidence before working alone with the client.
They have excellent support structures in place. They have a Regional structure in place, 4 across the Republic of Ireland. Each of the 4 Regional Managers are nurses. Within each region they have 2 or 3 Area Nurse Managers, each with a caseload of approximately 15 clients and 30 nurses. They are obsessed with employee engagement and frequently have 1 to 1 and team meetings. They operate a 24/7 Nurse Manager On Call system so support and advice is available via telephone as needed.
